Notice of Annual Member Meeting &
2024 Board Election Nominations

Our Annual Member Meeting will be held:

Thursday, May 30, 2024 @ 6:00 p.m.

South Reno Branch – 9770 S. Virginia St., Reno, Nevada

NOTICE OF NOMINATION FOR ANNUAL BOARD ELECTION:

There are two positions available on the Board of Directors. Below is the biographical information on the candidates certified by the Nominating Committee for your consideration for the election to the Board of Directors. Nominations for vacancies may be made by petition and signed by at least one percent (1%) of the membership or a minimum of 227 qualifying member signatures.

Nominations by petition must be submitted no later than Saturday, March 16, 2024 (postmarked by 12:00 midnight).  Along with the petition, the nominees must submit a signed statement that they are agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office.  Nominees will also need to submit a typed biography, including why they are interested in serving, their qualifications, and their education.  Biographical information furnished will be printed and provided with the ballot.  To run for the Board of Directors, nominees must be a Great Basin Federal Credit Union member who is at least 18 years of age.

Great Basin FCU Board Member Requirements:

  • Must make the time and effort to perform the duties of a Director
  • Prepare for, attend and participate in all Board meetings
  • May not be related to or live with a current Great Basin FCU Board member, Committee Member or employee
  • Must be of current sound financial standing (A credit report may be required)
  • Must be an active member of Great Basin FCU and use its products/services
  • Must be willing to attend educational meetings and seminars to further his/her knowledge of Great Basin FCU and the credit union movement

 

There will be no ballot process or nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting (May 29, 2024). The petition, statement of willingness to serve, and biography should be submitted to:  Chairman, Nominating Committee, Great Basin FCU —9770 S. Virginia St., Reno, NV  89511.

 

Arick Dickson (incumbent):

Arick Dickson grew up in Sparks, Nevada, where he attended Edward Reed High school and then Truckee Meadows Community College, where he received his Associate of Arts in General Education. He later went on to attend High Sierra Law Enforcement Academy. Arick recently retired from the Detective Division of the Washoe County Sherriff’s Office. He has worked in various divisions, and has experience in training, patrol, investigation, and more. He is married to his wife Laura, a Washoe County School District teacher, and they have two young children.

Mike Cassingham (incumbent):

Mike, a second-generation Nevadan born in Elko and raised in Carson City, is a graduate of Carson High School and holds a 1978 degree in Heavy Duty Mechanics from Utah Technical College. His early career as a journeyman mechanic paved the way for a transition into sales, where he became the local sales manager at Comstock Kenworth. Since November 1989, Mike has been the Vice-President of Operations at Lee Bros. Leesing, overseeing day-to-day operations of the Sales Department. Actively engaged in community organizations such as the Reno Rodeo Association, Ducks Unlimited, and the Reno Basque Club, Mike, alongside his wife – also a native Nevadan – also enjoys outdoor pursuits and spending time with his grown children and grandchildren. Mike was a vital part of the Great Basin FCU Supervisory Board since 2004, leveraging his auto loans expertise to drive the credit union’s success and has been on the Board of Directors since 2006. He is committed to growing FCU as the lending leader in the community.
