Great Basin Federal Credit Union has begun spreading Christmas cheer with its third-annual giving tree at its south Reno location on S. Virginia Street. The community is encouraged to choose a tag off the tree with a student’s name and age on it, and purchase gifts, clothes, hygiene products and gift cards for their student. Donations are due to the branch by Friday, Dec. 14.
Reno, NV-based Great Basin Federal Credit Union (GBFCU) is celebrating the grand re-opening of its Sparks Crossing branch, located at 295 Los Altos Parkway, Suite 105 in Sparks, NV.
An official ceremony and ribbon cutting will be held at the branch on Thursday, July 26 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The ceremony will feature remarks by President/CEO Jennifer Denoo and Board Chairman Jan Gilbert. Also in attendance will be city officials and representatives from the local Chamber of Commerce.
Roughly 25 eager entrepreneurs gathered Wednesday, June 27, for the initial session of a five-week seminar to help people start, build and grow their businesses. The free series, “Let’s Talk – Small Business Success,” hosted by Great Basin Federal Credit Union in collaboration with 120 West Strategic Communications, is designed to teach small business owners how to use strategy, business planning, messaging and marketing to run a successful business.

“We are beyond the recovery phase,” said Dennis Flannigan, a director of the Credit Union League and chief executive officer of Reno-based Great Basin Federal Credit Union. “We’re stronger than we’ve ever been.”

On Nov. 6 during the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues’ REACH Conference, Great Basin FCU Commercial Loan Officer Nina Hallock will be honored as the 2017 Tomorrow’s Star Award recipient.

Six credit union industry leaders and volunteers, as well as the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation, will be honored at this year’s California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues’ REACH 2017 Conference. Among the 2017 recipients are: Great Basin Federal Credit Union President and CEO Dennis Flannigan and Great Basin Federal Credit Union Commercial Loan Officer Nina Hallock.

Great Basin Federal Credit Union has partnered with Northern Nevada HOPES, a Reno, NV-based nonprofit community health center, to support its Housed and Healthy program by collecting supplies for people experiencing homelessness during the month of September.

Reno, NV-based Great Basin Federal Credit Union has promoted April Libby to serve as its brand manager. Libby will now oversee the Marketing and Member Experience departments, including the credit union’s brand and product promotions, advertising, online, and other marketing efforts for the Washoe County community Great Basin FCU serves.

Jennifer Denoo has been selected to serve as president of Great Basin Federal Credit Union, effective June 5. Denoo will replace Dennis Flanagan, who is retiring as president and CEO of Great Basin FCU effective Jan. 31, 2018.
