Deceased Assistance
Great Basin Federal Credit Union is here to assist you in this difficult time. To help facilitate the closing or transfer of an account to an estate at Great Basin Federal Credit Union, the following information will be needed:
For Deceased Members with remaining living joint account owners
- Certified Copy of Death Certificate
- Remaining owners will need to sign new signature card
For Deceased Members with beneficiaries listed on the account
- Certified Copy of Death Certificate
- Valid Identification for beneficiary
For Deceased Members with no remaining living joint account owners or beneficiaries and the payment is to be made to the Personal Representative/Executor of the Estate
- Certified Copy of Death Certificate
- Copy of court documents naming the Personal Representative or Executor of the Estate
- Letter of Testamentary or Letter of Administration
- Valid Identification
For Deceased Members with no remaining living joint account owners or beneficiaries and the funds are to remain in an Estate Account at Great Basin Federal Credit Union or used to establish an Estate Account at Great Basin Federal Credit Union
- Must qualify for Membership per Credit Union by-laws
- Copy of Court Order assigning a Personal Representative to the Estate
- Certified Copy of Death Certificate
- Copy of the TIN Assignment Letter from the IRS
- Valid Identification
For Deceased Members with no remaining living joint account owners or beneficiaries and the Estate assets are $20,000 or less
- In lieu of Personal Representative paperwork can supply Affidavit of Right to Assets NRS 146.080
- Certified Copy of Death Certificate
- Valid Identification
For Deceased Members with a surviving trustee on trust account
- Certified Copy of Death Certificate
- Updated Fiduciary Signature Card
For Deceased Members with no surviving trustees on trust account
