Business Account Documents

Here are some things you will want to have ready when you open your Business Account.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • New business accounts can be opened in person at any one of our branches or through our online account application.
  • Membership is open to businesses in Washoe County, Nevada.
  • Because we want to make sure we offer you the time and attention you deserve, we will take new account walk-ins until 4:30 (M-F); scheduled appointments encouraged. On Saturday, new accounts will be taken by appointment only. Please call 775-333-4228 or email info@greatbasin.org to make your appointment.
  • We will require that each signer’s info passes through ChexSystems, a consumer-reporting agency that aids financial institutions in identifying applicants who may have a history of account abuse. If you want to learn more or dispute an inaccurate report, you can contact ChexSystems anytime.
  • We will require that for each beneficial owner (owns 25% of business and/or has significant responsibility to control, manage, or direct the business) a valid form of ID, name, address, DOB, and social security number.
  • Feel free to take a look at the new account disclosures ahead of time.


To open a business account, you’ll need:

  1. $25 opening deposit for your savings account; this is the business entity’s share of ownership in the credit union.
  2. $25 opening deposit if you want to open a checking account. Opening deposits on other types of shares vary.
  3. Social Security Number of all individuals to be listed on the account.
  4. Valid Form of ID:

    • Government issued passport
    • State issued driver’s license (we cannot accept the DMV interim document as valid ID)
    • State issued non-driver identification card
    • Military identification
  5. Current Physical Address:

If your ID does not list your current physical address or lists a PO Box, please also bring one of the following that does show your current physical address:

    • Utility bill (power, phone, water, etc.)
    • Real property tax bill
    • Car registration
    • Lease or rental agreement for new address

Note: Please submit your business documents for review prior to your appointment to help ensure a smooth process at account opening.

Non-Profit Organization
  • Letter of Determination of Non-Profit Status from IRS
  • Required documentation for your corporate entity

Association/Club
  • Organizational Resolution (document where the members agree to form an organization and set out the governing structure of the organization)
  • Evidence of Tax ID# or EIN
  • Fictitious Filing Certificate
  • Meeting minutes (Authorizing the opening of the account and listing authorized signers)

Sole Proprietorship
  • Social security number for individual owning the business OR
  • Evidence of Tax ID# or EIN (if employing others)
  • Fictitious Filing Certificate (if applicable)
  • Nevada Business License

Partnership
  • Partnership Agreement
  • Nevada Business License
  • Evidence of Tax ID# or EIN
  • Fictitious Filing Certificate

Limited Partnership
  • Limited Partnership Agreement
  • Certificate of Limited Partnership (File Stamped)
  • Evidence of Tax ID# or EIN
  • Fictitious Filing Certificate
  • Initial/Annual List of General Partners (File Stamped) or
    • Initial/Annual List of Limited Partners (File Stamped) or
    • Initial/Annual List of Managing Partners (File Stamped)

Limited Liability Company
  • Operating Agreement
  • Limited Liability Company Charter (File Stamped)
  • Articles of Organization (File Stamped)
  • Evidence of Tax ID# or EIN
  • Fictitious Filing Certificate (If name does not match charter)
  • Initial/Annual List of Members and Managing Members (File Stamped)
  • LLC Resolution (Authorizing the opening of the account and listing authorized signers)

Corporation
  • Bylaws
  • Corporate Charter (File Stamped)
  • Articles of Incorporation (File Stamped)
  • Evidence of Tax ID# or EIN
  • Fictitious Filing Certificate (If name does not match charter)
  • Initial/Annual list of Officers and Directors (File Stamped)
  • Corporate resolution (Authorizing the opening of the account and listing authorized signers)

Great Basin does not currently offer two-signature verification or account sweeps.

Businesses located in Washoe County are eligible for membership. Must maintain a minimum $25 in the Essential Share for the life of the account. This is the business entity’s share of ownership in the credit union. Refer to Business Account Fee Schedule for additional fees that may apply to your account.
