A second generation Nevadan, Mike was born in Elko, Nevada and was raised in Carson City. In 1978, he earned a degree in Heavy Duty Mechanics from Utah Technical College. This led him to several positions as a journeyman mechanic for two local heavy truck sales companies. Using his mechanical background, he started his sales career as the local sales manager of Comstock Kenworth, an equipment sales company.
In November of 1989, Mike started his new career at Lee Brothers Leasing. He felt very fortunate to be working for such a professional company, one with the highest integrity in the automotive business. When Mike became the Vice-President of Operations, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Lee Bros. Sales Department. After 25 years with Lee Brothers, Mike then became owner of Basque Motors.
Mike also holds the distinction of being a Certified Vehicle Leasing Executive (CVLE) after successfully completing the Association’s advanced study program. Mike is actively involved in the Reno Rodeo Association, Ducks Unlimited, and the Reno Basque Club. He enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, and snowmobiling. He and his wife, Sheree – also a native Nevadan – have two beautiful daughters, Brittany and Cierra.
Mike began volunteering for Great Basin Federal Credit Union on the Supervisory Committee in 2004, using his experience in auto loans to ensure the credit union continues to be the driving force in retail loans. Mike was appointed Board of Director in 2006 and has since been working to grow Great Basin FCU to become the lending leader of this community. He is still on the board to this day!
Thanks for all that you do, Mike!
