The Season of Giving… Our Giving Trees

Tis the season of giving… and here at Great Basin we team up with several community outreach programs that help families and individuals during the holiday season. They are known as Angel Tree, Silver Tree and Communities in Schools Tree. Each one has a special purpose to help support specific age groups in our local community.

Angel Tree: This tree is for a personalized holiday assistance program. An individual sponsor or group may purchase new clothing and toys for a deserving child (or “Angel”) in need. Because every child deserves to feel loved and receive a gift at Christmas!

Silver Tree: These gifts will go to our Seniors 62+ living throughout our community either in their own homes or in many of the assisted living homes in the Reno area. Many of these seniors no longer have family to look out for them and love on them, so these gifts are much appreciated.

Communities in Schools Tree: These gifts will go to at-risk youth who attend the highest poverty, most drop out-prone schools in Washoe County School District. Every child deserves to feel loved and receive a gift at Christmas!

Think of others during this time of year. The Holiday season can be very difficult and lonely for many in our community. Encourage kindness, generosity and love to others throughout your days with no expectation of nothing in return. You may just feel the spirit and reward of giving!
