Nevada Humane Society
The Nevada Humane Society has been overrun with pets from people that are losing their homes. A man who faced eviction brought 54 cats in May and another 20 came from the Sun Valley mobile home fire. It is also kitten and puppy season. With this huge need, they are looking for two things. The first being volunteers. This is great FREE entertainment to you and your family (kids are welcome). It's cheaper than a movie and much more interactive. You are also helping your community and some schools require volunteer hours which they can have signed for by the Humane Society. You can go once a year, once a month or everyday. They need help with simply sitting and petting cats, walking dogs or other help such as assembling cardboard cat litter trays or office help. You do need to attend an orientation and then you are good to go! You even get a free volunteer T-shirt! You can also help by fostering animals. The babies are often not strong enough to handle the environment of the humane society and a warm and loving home helps them to get stronger so they are ready for adoption.
